Woman Rising: Community Mural Art Project

A Woman's Life Work
What:

Woman Rising: A Community Mural Art Project with Jackie Harder

When: Beginning Saturday, April 18, finishing Saturday, May 2

WhereAnne’s Place – Directions

Program:

In my new house is a large white wall like a blank slate, a fresh canvas…

Artist Jackie Harder has designed a mural for the upper portion of the wall entitled “Woman Rising.” She directs a creative process called a community mural project where everyone contributes a little painting to create the beauty of the whole.

Community mural creation with Jackie Harder

Will you give me the gift of a little of your painting to bring forever beauty to my home?

Jackie will lead us on this schedule:

1:00 – 4:00 PM

on these dates:
4/18, 4/19, 4/26, 5/2

Important: No skill or experience with art, painting, or pretty much anything is needed. Jackie has designed her community mural projects to truly be for anyone and everyone.

Background:

I wrote this in an email to Jackie on 11/4/14: “I have a vision of a mural with a woman rising. I see her profile, I think her arms or hands are raised, and she is both lifting herself and being lifted, perhaps from fire and ashes, like a phoenix.”

Added 7/13/2015: Here are photos of the project’s progress, start to finish, on Google Plus.
